Job Description

The Business Development Customer Relations Specialist is critical to the success of our business development team and is often our first impression with current and potential customers. This person will coordinate requests for quotes, introduction meetings and follow-up activities. They will manage the SEO endeavors and outside marketing team. This role will also manage our CRM, maintaining a clean database and running reports to determine customer’s current and future desires. This position involves travel and presenting to small groups of engineers, as well as representing IRD Glass at various trade shows.

Further Description of Job Duties:

  • Emailing and phone coordination with customers, potential customers and outside marketing partners to assist as needed
  • Resolving or mitigating potential issues that arise
  • Clarifying questions that arise from requests
  • Following up with customers
  • Setting up introduction meetings with potential customers and new customers
  • Presenting IRD Introduction presentation
  • Recording notes
  • Responding to all new requests
  • Vetting requests to determine feasibility and fit
  • Ensuring requests and quotes are followed up
  • Updating new contact status and information into CRM
  • Scrubbing contacts within CRM
  • Updating account and request information within CRM
  • Maintaining the integrity between incoming requests, CRM, and email campaign software
  • Collecting data from customers and requests
  • Compiling data
  • Interpreting data
  • Presenting data quarterly to help guide our Technology Roadmap
  • Managing our SEO program
  • Interfacing with our outside marketing team
  • Suggesting topics for blogs and white papers
  • Proofing social media posts, blogs and newsletters
  • Attending multiple tradeshows throughout the year (5-8 annually)
  • Scheduling visits with existing and potential customers
  • Visiting existing and potential customers
  • Communicating with upper management
  • Working independently
  • Meeting or exceeding productivity expectations
  • Completing tasks in a timely matter

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job an employee most commonly sits for 8 or more hours a day. If don onsite: The work is done in a climate controlled building. Noise levels are moderate and below OSHA thresholds. Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds. This position also has the possibility to be done remotely.

Education/Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in technical fields, especially optics, preferred

  • Experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience with Salesforce
  • 2 years’ experience interfacing directly with customers
  • CRM Experience
  • Familiarity with SEO tools
