Job Description:

An inspector will ensure quality product reaches the customer by doing inspection of parts per customer specifications. Inspectors will have to use numerous inspection devices to ensure conformance.

Further Description of Job Duties:

  • Quality Measures
    – Clean and Prep parts
    – Ensure parts are cleaned and ready for the following operations
    – Load parts into fixtures or trays
    – Prepare parts for shipment
    – Perform final assembly and testing of assembled components
  • Communication/Planning
    – Assess the production needs for the period; work with the lead to create fulfill the plan
    – Adapt to changes in demand/responsibilities as requested by a lead
    – Follow verbal and written direction
    – Communicate with the team and other shifts
    – Ensure you have essential supplies needed for inspection
    – Request order of materials and supplies timely when needed
  • Clean and Prep parts
    – Ensure parts are cleaned and ready for the following on operations
    – Load parts into fixtures or trays
    – Prepare parts for shipment

  • Inventory/Shipping/Receiving
    – Manage finished good inventory
    – Ship parts to customers per requirements
    – Follow Incoming Raw Material inspections guidelines and perform incoming inspections
    – Prepare and package parts for shipment per customer requirements
  • Organization/Safety
    – 5S and general organization of your area
    – Follow safety measures including handling chemicals safely and wearing PPE.
    – General Cleaning
    – Maintenance and cleaning of equipment
  • Documentation
    – Perform and record quality control measurements with various tools (micrometers, calipers, pins, foot calipers, gages, additional as assigned)
    – Enter accurate information into log books, spreadsheets and on work orders
    – Completing transactions in ERP computer system
    – Provide yield and defective part information to team on a regular basis
  • Improvements
    – Assist in identifying problems and developing solutions
    – Cross-training and learning different processes
    – Problem solving independently and participate on improvement teams
  • Other Essential functions
    – Be able to work independently and be self-motivated
    – Complete tasks in a timely manner
    – Multi-task between various parts of production
    – Productivity should match or exceed expectations
    – Follow Glass Handling guidelines
    – Ability to run fire polishers for appropriate parts accurately and safely
    – Back up for Automated Inspection system and Automated Clean Line when need arises
    – Other duties as assigned

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job an employee is sitting 8 to 12 hours a day and regularly working around moving mechanical parts with proper guarding. The work is done in a climate controlled building. Noise levels are moderate and below OSHA thresholds. Various chemicals are used to complete the tasks at hand and proper PPE must be worn. Regular lifting up to 20 pounds, occasional lifting up to 30 pounds, rarely lifting up to 50 pounds. Sometimes lifting from floor to shelf or carrying short distances. Lifting parts of out cleaning tanks requiring lifting up to shoulder level and back down. Regularly walking between stations to complete tasks and occasionally going up and down a short ladder or step stool.

Required Skills/Qualification/Education:

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to work with small parts and tools
  • Basic computer skills
  • Written and Verbal Communication skills
  • Ability to work independently

Desired Skills/Qualification/Education:

  • Familiar with Metric and Standard Measurements
  • Familiar with stereoscope, caliper, micrometers, gage pins and blocks
  • Ability to multi-task between different processes as needed
  • Manufacturing and inspection experience
  • Familiarity with blueprints and reading specifications
  • Ability to discuss topics and communicate effectively with team members
  • Attention to detail
  • Time management

  • Mechanical ability
