IRD Glass is a leading supplier of float glass components for the biotechnology, microelectronics, photovoltaic, security, law enforcement, chemical, commercial, and construction industries. We are an official distributor of Schott Borofloat, allowing us to serve your Borofloat needs both quickly and efficiently.
Float glass is highly resistant to water, strong acids, alkalis, impact, and heat, making it an ideal choice for application in numerous industries. Float glass may be tinted to provide aesthetic characteristics as well as enhanced heat and light transmission, insulation, or ultraviolet transmission. When light transmittance is important, optical coating may be applied during manufacture.
Float Glass Applications
Float glass is used for pyrolytic self-cleaning ovens, over plates for high-power floodlights, bulletproof glass, sight glasses for reaction vessels and fittings, precision optical components, optoelectronics, photonics and analytical equipment.
Float Glass Materials
IRD Glass offers float glass created with a number of materials, including BOROFLOAT® 33 manufactured by SCHOTT Technical Glass Solutions GmbH. This clear and transparent colorless glass provides excellent transmission very weak fluorescence intensities over the entire light spectrum. Measurements are hardly influenced by the glass receptacle because the exposure to water and acids results only in the leaching out of small amounts of ions from the glass.
